Mr. Ramchandra Damodar Sankhe, joined as Electricity Ombudsman (Mumbai) on 7th April, 2014.

He retired from the post of Secretary and Senior Legal Advisor to Government of Maharashtra, Law and Judiciary Department, Mantralaya. After retirement, he was appointed by Government of Maharashtra as President, Slum Appellate Tribunal of Maharashtra under Maharashtra Slum Areas (Improvement, Clearance and Redevelopment) Act, 1971 where he discharged judicial functions. He was also Legal Advisor to Maharashtra Airport Development Co. Ltd. (MADC), a Government of Maharashtra undertaking.

He was recruited as Under Secretary (Law) on the recommendations of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and posted in the Home Department of Government of Maharashtra, Mantralaya. He was thereafter promoted as Deputy Secretary (Law) and Joint Secretary (Law) to Government.

He also held the post of Director of Prosecutions, Maharashtra. Being Head of Department, he Supervised Prosecution Wing handling criminal cases filed by Police in Maharashtra.

He is B.Com and has passed L L. M. in Consumer Protection Law from University of Mumbai. He has also done Management Course in Public Administration from Jamanalal Bajaj Institute of Management and is awarded Certificate by Mumbai University.
He was appointed by the High Court of Bombay as Special Metropolitan Magistrate, Mumbai as per the provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure and has discharged functions as Judicial Magistrate for more than 10 years.

While he was working as Director of Prosecutions and Joint Secretary (Law) to Government, he was appointed by the State Government as Chairman to head the Committee on Conviction Rate. After visiting some States in India, he submitted report to the Home Minister of Maharashtra giving reasons for low Conviction Rate and measures to increase Conviction Rate in Maharashtra.

He is Visiting Faculty to Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Maharashtra Branch and YASHDA, Pune for delivering lectures to Government officers on the subject of Legal Affairs of Government.

Satisfaction of Electricity Consumers will be his object during tenure as the Ombudsman..
